Tim shortlisted for the Melton Times, Disability Sportsperson of the Year 2018!!(February 13, 2018)
Tim Birley from Mount Group RDA shortlisted for the Melton Times, Disability Sportsperson of the Year 2018
Tim is a young man with Downs Syndrome and a significant hearing impairment and started riding with Mount Group RDA as a complete novice in 2011. Since then he has worked really hard to improve his skills and taking part in serveal local RDA and Special Olympics competitions.
Tim was thrilled to be selected as a member for the Special Olympics East Midlands Equestrian team for the Special Olympics GB National Games in Sheffield last summer. He has came fourth in his dressage class and won a gold medal in the Working Trails class.
Sue Smith, his coach nominated him in the Disability Sportsperson of the Year category in recognition of his dedication to improving his riding skills and his achievements at the Special Olympics in Sheffield last year in the summer.
Tim was made shortlisted as one of the three finalists in the Disability Sportsperson of the Year award and was invited to attend the Awards Dinner and Presentation evening in Melton on Thursday last week which Christine Durrance won the category.
