Retford and District Group
Charity 1073633
Location: Wellow Park Equestrian Centre NG22 0EQ
Originally to be found in Retford, Nottinghamshire, the Retford & District RDA Group was formed in 1985 and is still going strong. The group moved to Wellow Park Stables 18 years ago and meet there each Thursday evening.
We currently have 4 RDA qualified Group Instructors who teach 10 riders each week ranging in age from 6 to 35 years old. Our instructors work hard to improve the riders’ skills and devise pony club type games to make it fun as well. We are very lucky in that we ride at a commercial establishment and have the use of an indoor school and also beautiful hacking country in the fields and tracks around us.
We are quite a competitive group and always try to go to the various events that are held in our area. This year we attended the annual Southwell Ploughing Match for the 17th year in succession. Our riders thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Handy Pony Goes Shopping course, as can be seen from the photograph.
Our group is popular and we do have a waiting list.

Ruddington Group
Registered Charity No: 1073536
Ruddington Group was formed in 1988 by a few friends in order to help children with severe learning difficulties from local schools. At present we have about eight children from Nethergate School in Clifton who ride with us. Their abilities vary, riding has definitely given them confidence, and it is a joy to us to see each child's progress. We have competed at Regional and National level, and have reached the National Championships on two occasions.
We ride on a Tuesday afternoon during term time at Bunny Hill Top near Nottingham.

Focussing on the therapeutic benefits of horse riding, the group has 5 qualified RDA Group Instructors with 2 trainees, assisted by a core team of more than 70 volunteers which includes the parents/carers of the riders. Woodside owns 3 horses/ponies and has 4 more on permanent loan.
